It's hard to see such a place that used to be the scene of vibrant, passionate forays into explorations of human emotions reduced to an abject shell of what it used to be. I may not be a theater manager or even a big theatergoer, but I can sympathize with buildings like these, those that were left behind when progress outstripped their development or when their initial purposes became outmoded. The world will never be without the need for artistic expression, but we must remember that all venues where said expression is celebrated have time limits and will go back to nature if they're not looked-after and cared-for.

This looks a bit like the small performance hall in The Last Samurai... at the beginning. Very cool though!

You might try to shoot some of these during the "magic hour" - right after the sun drops below the horizon and before darkness takes over. That would give another level of the light effect that you have so successfully achieved in all of your beautiful photography. Just a thought...

superior work as always, you always find the best location to get the shot, not the easiest to reach or the most straightforward, there's a great sense of harmony.

I love the concrete columns and arches and the red contrasting the concrete. I appreciate the detail of this theater that once was. I was the ironworker foreman on the building of the Cerritos Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles.

I used to be a theatre manager, so it's always sad to see a theatre like this. Still beautiful though.

How do you find these places?!! I just love your work. Are they within a reasonable distance of where you live?
